2009 Surface Fabrication Achievement in Design Contest Rules & Regulations
Please note that the rules and regulations have been modified from previous years. To ensure that your entry is eligible, please read the following carefully.
1. No purchase is required. A non-refundable $25 application fee applies to all entries submitted in the Surface Fabrication Achievement in Design Contest. This contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Void where prohibited.
2.The Application to Compete form must arrive at the Burnsville office of Cygnus Expositions ("Cygnus") no later than 11:59 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2008, along with non-refundable $25 application fee. Send completed form to: Surface Fabrication Achievement in Design Contest, Cygnus Expositions, 801 Cliff Road East, Suite 201, Burnsville, MN 55337; or fax to: Sara Lawrence at 952-894-8252; or email to: Sara.Lawrence@CygnusExpos.com. Late, lost, illegible, misdirected, or incomplete entries are ineligible.
3. Once an Application to Compete form has been submitted, the entrant has until February 19, 2009 to design, produce, and have their entry at the Surface Fabrication & Design Expo. If you are shipping your entry it must arrive at the Advance Warehouse prior to February 2, 2009. All forms including, the Onsite Signage form, Publication Release form and Photo Release form (if applicable), must be completed and received by January 19, 2009. If you are sending a high resolution digital photograph it must be sent to Sara Lawrence before January 19, 2009.
4. Each entrant is limited to two (2) individual entries. If a company or organization is sponsoring an entrant (or entrants), that company or organization may submit more than two entries, provided no more than two entries are created by any given individual.
5. Entrants must select the category in which they would like each entry to be judged. Each individual entry may only be judged in a single category.
6. Entrants should complete and provide a copy of their Application to Compete form with each entry submitted. The form should include: Entrant's Name, Company Name or Sponsoring Organization Name (where applicable/if different from entrant's name), address, telephone, email, and judging category, as well as the $25 application fee.
7. All entries may be comprised of any materials the entrant wishes to use, including, but not limited to: solid surface, engineered stone, stone, tile, laminate, and wood.
8. If you are entering in the Small Application class, you may ship your entry to the Advance Warehouse, before February 2, 2009. You are responsible for all shipping costs incurred. Or if your entry is small enough to carry, you may bring it to the Design Contest area on the show floor during set up from 9:00 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. on February 19, 2009. If you are entering into the Large Application class, send high resolution digital photos of your entry (professional photos preferred) to Sara.Lawrence@CygnusExpos.com before January 19, 2009. Cygnus Expositions will enlarge your photos and display with other entries at the show.
9. Entrants are responsible for the costs to design, build, photograph, package, insure and ship their entries.
10. All entries or photographs of entries will be on display at the Surface Fabrication & Design Expo from February 19-21, 2009. Upon the close of the show on February 21, 2009, if you would like to have your entry returned to you, you may pick it up in the design contest area or arrange to have your entry shipped back to you at your own expense.
11. Cygnus reserves the right to publish photographs of all entries submitted within the context of this contest in either print or electronic form. Use encompasses sales, marketing, educational, and publicity use in all media worldwide, including but not limited to, the Surface Fabrication & Design Expo, Surface Fabrication, Kitchen & Bath Design News, Wood Digest and the Internet. However, Cygnus' use of the images shall only be in connection with the contest and contest publicity, and only with designer credit.
12. Neither Cygnus Expositions nor the exhibiting venue will be liable for any loss of, or damage to, any of the entries.
13. By entering the contest, entrant guarantees and warrants (i) that he/she owns the work submitted, (ii) such work is original and has not won any previous awards, and (iii) that the whole copyright is vested in the entrant, and that the entrant has all necessary rights, permissions, and releases.
14. The Cygnus Achievement in Design Contest is not open to employees of Cygnus Expositions or Cygnus Business Media, publisher of Surface Fabrication, Kitchen & Bath Design News, and Wood Digest, and/or any other affiliates or agencies.
